Brunnu í Reykjavík Miðbæ

Í gær mörg hús brunnu í Reykjavík miðbæ, tvær aldir af sögu brunnu. (Þetta eru fyrstu orðin mín á íslensku á blogginu mínu)

Yesterday a big fire burnt a few very old houses in Reykjavík downtown, two centuries of history were burnt.

Lutherans = Católicos

Five hundred years ago Lutero fought against the Catholic Church because he thought they were very far from the ideas of Jesus Christ.

Nowadays the catholic children celebrate the First Communion between 8 and 10 years old. In this celebration they have: traditional garment/suit, shoes, complements, celebration, video/photo article and commemorative gifts for the guests. The average expense of the First Communion in Spain is 2500€. In addition you have to add all the gifts or money they recieve from the guests, of average approximately 30 people.

In Iceland, lutherans, they don't have First Communion but they have Confirmation (14 years old). They spend a very similiar amount of money and of course they celebrate this day more or less with the same things: suit, shoes... This year the most popular gift has been the PlayStation 3, a very christian gift.

In both cases when the priest asked the children whether they would look towards Jesus Christ for guidance in life, they agreed and prayed together. The society is teaching us how to lie from the begining.

Algo está cambiando / Something is changing

Something is changing in Iceland and in only seven weeks... the parliamentary elections.

A week ago a new party was announced, Íslandshreyfingin, The Icelandic Movement. Maybe the name is not very appropiate for Spain because the word 'Movement' is very related to the time of Franco, Dictator of Spain from 1939 to 1975. But here in Iceland they don't have this problem and even they dare to say 'Áfram Ísland' (usually in sports competitions), something like 'Go up Iceland' also a typical shout in Franco's age.

This political party puts the main emphasis on environmental issues and many people in Iceland are very expectant. In only one week they have 5% of the electorate according to a survey of an independent firm. The party is formed by:

1. Ómar Ragnarsson, President: famous TV reporter and fighter of environmental issues

2. Margrét Sverrisdóttir, Vicepresident: former Liberal Party manager and after she showed her disagreement with the racist way of some people in the party, she resigned. You can see my post about this clicking here.

3. Jakob Frímann Magnússon: previously in the Social Democratic Alliance

As you can see people of very different ideological roots but with an objetive in common, the environment.

Definitely something is changing... maybe not only in Iceland.

By the way I've created a new label: Medio Ambiente / Environment

voipcheap.com thanks to Pablo Cañas

Today I want to show you a new software that Pablo Cañas showed me in my last trip to Spain.

With this software you can call regular phones all over the world completely for free over the internet. You can call also cell phones for only 0.10€ and of course from computer to computer for free. You have 300 minutes per week to call for free to regular phones.

But that's not all, besides you can call three different persons and talk with all of them at the same time (multiconference) even for free if all the calls are to regular phones. I've tried the multiconference with two regular phones and one cell phone, from Iceland to Spain over internet for only 0.10€/min everything because the two regular phones are for free in this case. It was very good and very high quality but somewhat difficult because of so many people at the same time.

Here you have the link: www.voipcheap.com

Well... enjoy it!

Bueno... ¡que lo disfrutéis!

Cold War Kids

Here I am again after a few days of holidays in my country. Now I'm developing a few projects and maybe from now I'm not going to write here very much. 'It's a matter of time'. But I'll go on posting of course.

Today I want to show you a new group I saw surfing YouTube: Cold War Kids.

Good future for the Indie Rock music. Very good begining with their first album, 'Robbers and Cowards'.

Today I want to show you a very interesting web site: www.stopdiscrimination.org. This web site is in spanish, if you want to read a direct translation to english from the google service, visit this link.
The president of this organization is Javier García, a lawyer that is fighting against any kind of discrimination: birth, race, sex, religion, opinion or any other condition or personal or social circumstance.

At this point there is a very injust situation, you can't put a job application for many jobs if you are more than thirty something years old: fireman, policeman, for the army... If you are in this situation, this organization can provide you legal support.
